Portrait Project

This was a fun portrait created some time ago for a great family. Below is the final piece as well as some preparatory work.

Achieving an accurate light and dark pattern is essential for a solid, believable form. Value studies are very helpful to work through many unforeseen problems. Color is always secondary to value.

If your values are accurate you can paint with pretty much
any color and it will still "look right".

Final painting. 16"x20"
